The Cochise College Soccer team traveled to Phoenix to face Scottsdale College. The Apaches had a back and forth game against Scottsdale until the 21st minute when Samantha Renteria, who was previously ACCAC keeper of the week, was subbed into the offensive line and found a net after a cross from Clara Steffensen from Hvidovre, Denmark. The first half offered multiple scoring opportunities for both sides. At the end of the first half, the scoreboard showed 1-0 for the Apaches.
The second half started with a high intensity as both teams tried to find the back of the net. It was Steffensen who scored the second goal in the 89th minute. Maria Azarias drove the ball towards the goal; the Artichokes’ goalkeeper deflected the ball to Steffensen, who confidently finished and made it 2-0 for Cochise. Cochise College showed a team performance which secured the victory. Brianna Guzman from Douglas, Ariz., was credited with the shoutout.
Clara Steffensen was selected ACCAC Player of the Week for Division I.
Brianna Guzman was selected ACCAC Goalkeeper of the Week for Division I.
