IMG_7052CHANDLER — The Cochise College women’s basketball team defeated Chandler-Gilbert 79-62 on Tuesday night.

Te Oramae Solomon led the Apaches with 19 points, Tianna Brown had 18 and Aja Hoyle added 16.

“We were only up by three at halftime; we just weren’t getting stops,” Cochise head coach Laura Hughes told the Sierra Vista Herald. “But we had more energy in the second half and did a better job in transition defense. That’s not the easiest place to play, so we’ll take it.”

Next, Cochise travels to Yuma for a Thanksgiving tournament at Arizona Western College. On Friday, the Apaches face Carl Albert State College from Oklahoma, and on Saturday, they play Anoka Ramsey from Minnesota.

Cochise returns to conference play on Wednesday against Arizona Western on the Douglas Campus. Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
