Cochise College is now accepting nominations for its third Hall of Fame class to be inducted in Fall 2017.

The Hall of Fame honors former students, faculty/staff and community leaders who have made a major contribution to the mission and goals of Cochise College, or who have contributed in a significant way to the lives of others after being a part of the Cochise College community. Launched as part of an anniversary celebration, the Hall of Fame now includes 22 members.

The first Hall of Fame class honored 19 individuals, many with multi-faceted connections to the institution. The second class was much smaller, for reasons of logistics more so than a lack of nominations. Members include community members involved in the formulation and governance of the college and its foundation, alumni, and several long-serving faculty and staff.

“One thing that’s clear is that a lot of people have helped make Cochise College the special place that it is, and we’re thankful to those nominators who have taken the time to recognize the valuable work of others,” said Denise Hoyos, executive director of external affairs. “We want to celebrate those contributions, and it’s all the better if it takes a while.”

This year, organizers set a soft deadline of January 31, 2017, at which time early nominations will be reviewed. The final nomination deadline is May 30, 2017, with an induction event tentatively planned for Fall 2017. Anyone can nominate, but self-nominations and nominations of current employees will not be accepted.

The nomination process requires completion of a nomination form available on the college website, as well as submission of two letters of recommendation that explain the ways in which each individual holds a deep connection to Cochise College or has made a substantial contribution to the college through personal time, effort and interest. A biography or resume also is required.
