SIERRA VISTA — The Cochise College Dance Club will be performing this weekend at the annual Arizona State Fair in Phoenix.

The club will showcase its Hawaiian, salsa and line dances from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13. Dancers will invite the audience to participate in group dances like the Electric Slide and the Cupid Shuffle.

Front to back, Socorro McNeill, Christine O’Rahilly, Tanya Biami and Darla Hill rehearse Hawaiian dance moves last Friday.

Club vice-president Joey Jarboe contacted state fair coordinators and was persistent about the group’s participation in the event. It will be the largest venue in which the club has performed since its inception at the college.

The Dance Club formed with a mission to ignite a passion for dance in as many people as possible. Cha-cha, Bachata, Rhumba, Salsa and East Coast are some examples of the different styles of dance that are practiced on the Sierra Vista Campus at rehearsal each week. The club invites all participants — no partners needed, no experience necessary, only a love for dancing and fun.

For more information about Dance Club meeting times, contact club adviser Tanya Biami at biamit@cochise.edu or 515-5316. For more information about the Arizona State Fair schedule, hours and ticket prices, visit azstatefair.com.
