Former Cochise College baseball player Tagg Duce, now playing for Dallas Baptist University, has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.
The senior outfielder was 9 for 16 at the plate with nine RBIs in wins over Abilene Christian and Illinois State last week. Against Abilene, he hit his second home run of the season, and against Illinois State, he scored the game-winning run in the ninth inning.
Duce is leading the team with a .369 batting average and is second best for on-base percentage at .476. He has 20 RBIs for the Patriots.
He graduated from Cochise in 2013 after helping the Apaches to their first ever Western District title, first trip to the NJCAA World Series since 1989 and a third-place national finish.
