DOUGLAS — Cochise College instructor Margarita Ramirez Loya and her English as a Second Language students will be selling and signing copies of their recently-published book, “We Are Stories,” from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the historic Hotel Gadsden in Douglas during the Centennial Authors and Artists Weekend.

“We Are Stories” is a compilation of stories told by senior citizens living in the Arizona-Sonora borderlands as part of the ESL class’ Oral History Project. The book, which represents a window to a time in history that once was and needs to be remembered, can also be purchased online at LuLu.com.

The Centennial Authors and Artists Weekend was organized to create a venue for authors and artists to showcase their work while celebrating 100 years of statehood. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 13, coincides with Douglas Homecoming Week, the 50th reunion of the Douglas High School Class of 1962 and the Spirit of Douglas Literature Awards Social for local student essayists.
