Cochise College will host acclaimed Tucson sculptor Curt Brill for two special presentations March 21 at the Sierra Vista and Douglas campuses.
Brill will speak about his artwork, which emphasizes the human figure, and answer questions about making a living as an artist from 1:45 to 3 p.m. in the 1900 building at the Douglas campus, and from 6:45 to 8 p.m. in room 401 at the Sierra Vista campus.
Brill was born in New York and began seriously pursuing his art career while attending Cornell University, starting with exhibitions that showcased his drawings, ceramic work and silk screening. He moved to Arizona in 1974 to become a pottery instructor for Tucson Parks, and has since worked with galleries, museums and educational institutions all over the city.
Brill’s award-winning work has been showcased in regional, national and international exhibits. In his artist statement, he says, “My search in the visual arts is for the hidden Human spirit. That small part that makes us each unique, yet finds us a common home.”
For more information about attending either of these free presentations, which are open to the public, contact Tate Rich at 417-4025 or richt@cochise.edu, or Al Kogel at 515-5479 or kogela@cochise.edu.
