SIERRA VISTA — Non-Profit organizations from across Cochise County are invited to the eighth annual Synergy and Social Services Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29 at the Cochise College Student Union Community Room on the Sierra Vista Campus.

The Center for Lifelong Learning, in partnership with the United Way of Sierra Vista and Cochise County, is hosting the event. Partial funding for the workshop is provided by a grant from the Arizona Community Foundation – Cochise.

This year’s theme is “Team Work Makes the Dream Work!” The workshop aims to provide attendees with collaboration and communication tools to improve overall success. Sessions include:

Fundraising 101: An overview of fundraising – non-profit sector economics/how many non-profits nationally and locally, where funding comes from, what is most effective means of fundraising.

Marketing and Your Message: Discuss how your organization delivers its message to clients, volunteers, donors, and the community at large. How are you delivering your message through your activities (services, direct mail, special events, media)? What do you feel is effective/not effective?

Volunteer Recruitment and Retention: Where do you find volunteers to support your programs? Who are the Millennials? How do you retain volunteers? How do you acknowledge and thank your volunteers?

Leading the workshops is Ann Morrison, who has taught non-profit management courses at the University of South Florida for the past six years. Morrison has a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University and certificates in Non-Profit Management and Fundraising Management of Non-Profit Organizations from the University of Texas at Austin. She believes in the importance of non-profit services to the community and strives to grow successful organizations through education.
