For the second time this season, Cochise College freshman Johnishia Welles was awarded Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Division I Player of the Week honors, announced Tuesday.
Welles, a 6-foot forward from Phoenix (Barry Goldwater High School), helped the Apaches win two of three games last week. In those games, she averaged 23.6 points and 10 rebounds in wins again against Frank Phillips, 79-47, and Scottsdale, 79-37, and a loss to Mesa, 64-49.
Welles was previously awarded the ACCAC Player of the Week honor on Dec. 5.
“Johnishia stepped up her game last week and came with great positive energy and focus,” said first-year Cochise head coach Laura Hughes. “Her teammates did an excellent job of getting her open and getting her the ball. This is an individual award, but it
