The playoff run for Cochise College women’s basketball team in 2016 will be a short one, as the squad suffered a defeat to Eastern Arizona 80-57 Tuesday night.
Ciara Fields finished with 14 points, while Jordyn Penniman had 9 points and 3 steals. Rauline Martinez added 8 points, and JuWanna Milton chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds. All-Conference forward Sophia Elenga had 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.It was a tough shooting night for Cochise, which shot 31% from the field and got out-rebounded 47-37. Yet turnovers proved to be the team’s undoing, as it committed 17 in the first half and 25 total. Eastern Arizona picked off 20 steals, led the game from start to finish and was up by 28 points at one point of the game.
Cochise finishes its remarkable 2015-2016 season with a 23-8 overall record, and a 17-5 conference mark.
