FORT HUACHUCA — The Cochise College women’s rodeo team finished second at the first rodeo of the spring season at Wren Arena on Fort Huachuca over the weekend.
Georgia Diez won the goat tying event with an 8.0-second run, seventh in barrel racing and took second in the women’s all-around.
Arianna Assini finished third in goat tying with 8.4-second run and Makayla Boots earned fourth after tying her goat in 8.5 seconds. Shyanne Summerfield‘s took eighth in barrel racing with a 19.00. Katie Adams took seventh in breakaway roping.
The Cochise College men’s team took fifth overall. Charlie Kogianes split the win in the saddle bronc riding event after marking 74 points on Saturday.
In the Grand Canyon Region Standings, the Cochise women are second overall, just behind Central Arizona College, while the men are fifth.
Next, the Apaches travel to Florence on March 15-16 to compete at the Central Arizona rodeo.
