YUMA — The Cochise College women’s basketball team went 2-0 at the Wells Fargo Basketball Classic held at Arizona Western College on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday against Carl Albert State College of Oklahoma, Cochise won 72-64, led by Destiny Amezquita with 23 points. Tianna Brown added 12 points and eight rebounds, Aja Hoyle had nine rebounds, and Princess Lauvao came off the bench to score 10.
Cochise then defeated Anoka-Ramsey Community College of Minnesota 66-63 on Saturday. Te Oramae Solomon led all scorers with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Brown had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Amezquita scored 10 for the Apaches, who improved to 6-3 on the season.
The Apaches are on a four-game winning streak heading into Wednesday’s home game against rival Arizona Western. Game time is 5:30 p.m. on the Douglas Campus.
Admission is free to all regular-season home games.
